The Russian Hawthorn (Crataegus ambigua) is a small-sized flowering tree with multiple seasons of ornamental interest. In mid spring, its foliage is accompanied by white flowers that give the tree a stunning look in full bloom. Its green leaves are small and deeply cut with 4-7 lobes. In late summer and fall, small crimson pomes cover the tree in showy fashion for an impressive attractive look. Its twisted and knotty form and exfoliating yellowish bark provide the landscape with interest in the winter.  \n \nThe Russian Hawthorn is native to southern Russia. It is often mistaken for the Common Hawthorne but the Russian Hawthorn differs in its yellowish exfoliating bark. This is a tough little tree and is very hardy and resistant to drought. A great choice as an accent tree in a yard or park. It does best in full sun and can tolerate a variety of soil conditions.
