The Redhaven Peach tree (Prunus persica ‘Red Haven’- Seed Rstock) is a small-sized, fast-growing fruit and flowering tree. It has a compact, rounded form with upward spreading branches on mature trees. In mid spring, dark pink buds appear to cover the tree and open up to fragrant pink flowers for a gorgeous spring display. The dark green foliage emerges after the flowers and is followed in mid to late summer by medium-sized yellow and red fruits. These fruits cover the tree and have firm, yellow flesh that are not only edible but are quite sweet and tasty. In the fall, the green leaves turn an attractive deep gold.

The Redhaven Peach tree was developed at Michigan State University by Dr. Stanley Johnston and introduced in 1940. This cultivar is prized for its early fruit ripening time. This tree, like most fruit trees, must be pruned every year to maximize fruit bounty and maintain workable height and spread for harvesting. The fruit has a delicious flavor and can be used for fresh eating, baking, or canning. This tree doubles as both an ornamental tree and fruit tree for its bloom and attractive form as well as its bountiful fruit production. It does best in full sun and prefers moist, well-drained soils.
