The Patmore Seedless Green Ash (Fraxinus pennsylvanica ‘Patmore’) is a medium- to large-sized shade tree. It has a very pleasing form, with a symmetrical, pyramidal, rounded canopy and upright branches. Its strong central leader consists of gray-brown bark that has diamond-shaped ridging in maturity. The dark green, pinnate compound, glossy foliage turns yellow in the fall.  This is a very popular shade tree for its attractive form, adaptability, and cold hardiness.

The Patmore Seedless Green Ash was discovered in 1967 as a seedling mutation of unknown parental lineage in Alberta, Canada. It was introduced into the trade in 1976. This tree is known for its cold hardiness and tidy, easy to maintain appearance. One of the best shade trees for cold climates. It has a naturally high canopy, about 6 feet typically, but can be made even higher when used as a street tree with proper pruning. It does best in full sun and tolerates a wide range of soil types.
