The Oklahoma Redbud (Cercis reniformis ‘Oklahoma’) is a small-sized ornamental flowering tree. It has a compact, broad, and rounded form that grows upright. This tree is ornamental for its bloom of beautiful flowers in the early spring. Around April, dark royal-purple flowers emerge and cover the bare tree. Following the bloom is the coming on of the shiny foliage that almost seems unnaturally glossy. These leaves are heart shaped and a handsome green throughout the summer.

\nThe Oklahoma Redbud was discovered in the Arbuckle Mountains of Oklahoma in 1964. The Warren & Son Nursery in Oklahoma City named and introduced the cultivar in 1965. This cultivar is unique in its very compact, broad, and rounded form. A great choice for small lawns, woodlands, and natural locations as well. This is a low maintenance tree, and it will brighten up any landscape that you see fit.
