The Marina Strawberry Tree (Arbutus marina) is medium-sized, fruit bearing, ornamental evergreen tree. It has a dense, widespread crown made up of large deep green leaves that branches relatively low in the wild and when pruned is higher branching. Rosy pink flowers simultaneously emerge in the fall and winter with the red and yellow edible fruit that resemble strawberries (edible but not very appetizing). It has elegant, mahogany, peeling bark that reveals a fresh coat of reddish brown bark that is a sight to behold all year round.  \n \nThe Marina Strawberry Tree is a hybrid of uncertain Arbutus lineage and was introduced in 1984 by the Saratoga Horticultural Research Foundation. Its love for hot and dry climates make it a good firewise landscaping plant. It is a great choice for a garden, yard, in a forest setting, or on its own due to its elegant growth habits and overall aesthetically pleasing features.
