The Lavender Twist® Redbud (Cercis canadensis) is a small-sized ornamental tree. It has a unique cascading form with weeping branches around a stunning twisted trunk that provides winter interest. In early spring, very showy rose pea-like flowers cover the branches before the foliage comes on. This creates a stunning pink-purple umbrella like specimen. The large heart shaped foliage is dark green in the summer before turning yellow-gold in the fall.

The Lavender Twist® Redbud was discovered in Westfield, NY in the private garden of Connie Covey in 1991. This cultivar is extremely unique in its drooping, waterfall appearance. It is a great choice in any garden landscape that needs a bright indication of spring. It can also be used as a shrub border. This tree is relatively low maintenance but does not tolerate transplanting well. It can be grown in full or partial sun and does not have a preference to soil type.
