The Kindred Spirit® Columnar Oak (Quercus robur x bicolor ‘Nadler’) is a medium-sized columnar tree. It has an extremely tight form of upright branches and a short central leader. Its leaves are like that of a White Oak with 3-7 lobes and dark glossy green with silver undersides that turn red in the fall. Although it is hybrid, it still produces acorns that will attract small animals and wildlife. It is one of the narrowest of any columnar tree, especially for its mature height of 30 feet.

The Kindred Spirit® Columnar Oak is a hybrid of the Columnar English Oak and Swamp White Oak. It was patented and introduced in 2007 by Earl Cully and Joshua Nadler. This cultivar is a sister seedling of the Regal Prince® cultivar but Kindred Spirit’s leaves aren’t as glossy and it has a much tighter form. It is also mildew resistant thanks to the Swamp White Oak parentage. This is a great choice as a vertical accent tree along streets, in parks planted in groups, or along driveway and patios. It does best in full sun and is adaptable to a wide range of soil types.
