The Early Glow Buckeye (Aesculus glabra ‘Early Glow’) is a medium-sized tree that captures the eye throughout the growing season. Its ornamental features begin in the spring when it blooms yellow-green flowers over bright green leaves, a staple of the buckeye species. It continues to be of interest in the fall with a reliable bright red display of foliage that turns earlier than most other fall color trees. This also has an appealing rounded, uniform crown.  \n \nThe Early Glow Buckeye was developed and selected by Mike Yanny of JN Plant Selections in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This cultivar is similar in form and growth rate to its parent species, the Ohio Buckeye, and differs with its increased resistance to leaf scorch and decreased production of fruit. This makes it better suited for streets and smaller yards close to homes than the parent species due to it giving off less litter. It grows best in partial to full sun and is adaptable to most conditions but cannot tolerate heavy, sustained drought.
