The Bowhall Red Maple (Acer rubrum ‘Bowhall’) is a medium- to large-sized tree that has a narrow, columnar canopy. It grows upright and is very similar to the other Red Maple cultivar, Armstrong except it does not grow as tall and not as narrow. It has dark green leaves in the spring and summer and they turn to a bright yellow-orange or red-orange depending on the year.

\nThe Bowhall Red Maple was selected in 1946 and named in 1951 in Ohio by Scanlon Nursery. This tree is good for planting on buffer strips or in a medium- to large-sized lawn. It can also be used as a privacy screen. It does well in partial or full sun and prefers moist, well-drained soils for most optimal growth but can tolerate most soil types.
