The Princeton Sentry® Ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba ‘Princeton Sentry’) is a medium- to large-sized columnar tree. It has an extremely narrow and symmetrical form with an upright and dense branching pattern. It has the classic fan-shaped Ginkgo leaves that are a bright, light yellow-green in the spring and summer and consistently turn vivid yellow in the fall. A very durable tree to pests and disease, it lives to be very old as do most Ginkgo trees.
The Princeton Sentry® Ginkgo is a male selection, meaning it does not bear the distinctive Ginkgo fruit that most find to have an unpleasant fragrance. It is a great choice as a street tree. With its very narrow form it does not need much pruning to keep its branches out of the way of human traffic. Great fit for streets that have limited space for trees. It also can do very well as a tree in a small lawn or near a house. Does best in full sun and does not have a soil preference.
