Espresso™ Kentucky Coffeetree

The Espresso™ Kentucky Coffeetree (Gymnocladus dioicus ‘Espresso-JFS’) is a medium- to large-sized ornamental tree. It is prized for its seedless attribute, making it lower maintenance and cleaner than the parent species. It has very large, bipinnately compound, forest green leaves on arching branches that form a globe-like, rounded canopy, almost resembling an elm. The rough, dark brown bark adds an interesting texture to make it valuable in a winter landscape. 

The Espresso™ Kentucky Coffeetree is a J Frank Schmidt & Sons Co. introduction. It is essentially a Kentucky Coffeetree without the seed pods. A cleaner tree than the parent species, this tree is a great option for the yard or street as a shade tree that will provide winter interest with its bark and irregular appealing form. It is also highly adaptable, being tolerant of drought, heat, and cold conditions. It does best in full sun and tolerate most growing conditions.
